Our Clients of the Month – December 2011

I am very excited to that we had 3 incredible clients of the Month that I want to recognize for December 2011. These 3 individuals have worked extremely hard, stayed committed and set and achieved goals that blew me away.. Each one of them has a unique story and I will be featuring them on upcoming blog posts.

First we had Ashley Campisi. Ashley has been with us for 1 year now (Happy Anniversary Ashley!). She is now down 42 lbs and 17 inches and has brought her sister on board to join us in her program. We gave her a set of interview questions so you could hear her story. (Make sure you read till the end because if you want results like Ashley you will want to see what we have in store for you Kicking off January 7th!)

 

Why did you join I Luv My Body Fitness Boot Camps?
I joined I Luv My Body Fitness Boot Camp because I was in a serious rut with my workout routine and needed a change. I have always been active, enjoyed playing sports and have been consistently exercising for years but I wasn’t seeing any real results with the cardio based routine I was on. I also know that, for me, having the accountability that comes with attending a class and keeping up with the other members is the thing that really helps maximize workouts. I had done circuit training based classes in the past and knew I wanted to try a boot camp but decided to try I Luv My Body Fitness because of the positive reviews I saw on Yelp. I Luv My Body was praised for its challenging classes, friendly and dedicated staff and comfortable environment, all things I quickly found to be true and, I think, all things that set this boot camp apart from others.

What is your favorite part about boot camp?
My favorite part of boot camp is the variety of routines and exercises implemented in each class. Every class is something different which keeps me engaged, both physically and mentally. Boredom is definitely not a factor in these workouts which makes coming to class 3-4 nights a week extremely easy and enjoyable. In addition to keeping classes creative, it has been great to be exposed to such a wide range of exercises. I find myself writing down routines I find particularly challenging but gratifying and trying to work them into my own fitness routine when I can’t make class or when it’s an off day. It has been great to learn so many new exercises and gain a deeper understanding of how to approach my diet and exercise routine in a way that’s really going to yield the best results.

What results have you seen since joining?
I have seen incredible results in weight loss, enhanced muscle tone and increased level of overall health in the past year. Since joining last January I have lost 42 pounds and 17 total inches. I’ve learned how to exercise and eat to maximize healthy weight loss and how to change my life to fit these healthy habits. Beyond the weight loss numbers, the biggest result I’ve seen since joining was just how doable it is to completely overall your diet and exercise habits while still enjoying food and fun with friends. Working with Kristen to develop strategies for continuing to lose weight while still being able to go out with friends has been paramount in my ability to sustain my fitness and nutrition plan while still doing all the things I love.

What would you say to someone who is thinking about joining our fitness program?
I would advise them to think seriously about their fitness goals and try to determine what it’s going to take to achieve them. If it’s something you feel you’re able to do on your own, then great! But I think for most people, elevating your health and fitness takes some level of learning. Learning about nutrition and exercise but also learning about your personal habits and what has impaired your progress in the past. By changing how you think, it opens more doors to what you’re able to achieve and I have personally found that the I Luv My Body Program is a great place to learn those lessons and change your life for the better.

8-weeks ago there was still a billion excuses in the way, never enough time, and always putting myself and my body on the bottom of a very long list of to-do’s.

There were definitely results even after two-weeks of going to bootcamp regularly. On the first day, I could barely do a few lunges without losing my balance, and was so winded from the cardio that I thought I was going to faint. But then my energy was improved throughout the day and overall.

Clearly this is a lifestyle change for me, and besides knowing I will never have to see those LARGE #s on the scale anymore, it’s more importantly been a reminder that when I put my mind toward a goal no matter what it is, it is attainable. For me, it was as simple as starting with the decision to just show up for bootcamp no matter how I was feeling. Seeing the same people, and having Kristen and Arthur at the helm pushing us on a regular basis was the beginning of creating the discipline I was so hungry for.

The future is bright as I’m enjoying the revival of my fabulous outfits that fit again, making more time to cook and to eat with family and friends, and thinking about additional activities I’d like to pursue. I no longer feel guilty about taking care of me or what I eat or don’t eat.

When I started this challenge I felt bloated, groggy and so uncomfortable in my body. I would wear shirts to cover my tummy and hips. I wanted to stop feeling so self-conscious.

4 weeks into this I dropped my first pant size and gained a smile 8 weeks in.

I am not groggy, my eyes are brighter and my body is much leaner. I went down 2 pant seizes from a 10 to a 6. I almost cried it felt so good. I feel like I am my natural size. I am where I should be and I m sticking with this program to maintain where I am now.

“I found myself losing 13 lbs in the first 11 days of the 30-day cleanse!”


Eight weeks ago I was probably at one of my lowest points in my life, without going into details, made me depressed, unmotivated, tired and overall not very happy with myself. I had been wanting to get disciplined with working out and getting my body healthy knowing that I usually feel better after I have a hard workout and a good sweat, but I felt like I could not stick with any routine long enough; too many distractions/obstacles-work schedule, social engagements, family obligations, etc.

Before the cleanse I was working out very regularly, five to six times a week, with mostly boot camp classes; occasionally I would run. I was getting stronger and building my stamina as well as gaining more energy, but was not getting the tone or the sustained energy levels I wanted. I was being partially conscience of what I consumed, but was being very loose and made exceptions. I was not seeing the results I wanted, but knew it would take time and I had to change my diet more. So I joined the cleanse and I went through sugar withdrawals the first three days, then my body equalized itself and I was going strong. I was eating eggs with lots of veggies in the morning, large salads with fish or other lean meat for lunch, and dinners I typically made fish or lean ground beef with many cooked greens. I found myself losing 13 lbs in the first 11 days of the 30-day cleanse and I was seeing GREAT results. I had lost a lot of water weight, but I was getting lean and seeing the toned muscles.

So finally it is over, or at least the eight week YBB Challenge. I feel fabulous with constant energy, clear thoughts, motivation, self-discipline and self-satisfaction about finishing something I started which was the hardest part. Thank you for this challenge and making me a better and happier person.

“My clothes are falling off of me!”


I found a picture of myself from 12-15 years ago and it had my weight and measurements at the time on the back of the picture. The weight was 130 lbs. This picture was taken before I had 2 children. Another 3 weeks later, I lost those 8 lbs (plus 1 more), my BMI is in the “normal/healthy” range and my measurements are soo close to the ones on the picture (and even smaller in 1 measurement – thighs!).

I couldn’t be happier! I can now see on my body the results of all of these months of exercising – muscles are showing through! My clothes are falling off of me (I literally have almost nothing in my closet that fits any more). I had to do at least a little clothes shopping and I experienced the “icing on the cake” – a size 6 pants. I can’t recall buying a size 6 since my college days – almost 20 years ago!

Then I go to a party on Saturday night and got so many compliments from people who haven’t seen me since earlier this year. It was very inspiring to hear how people could really see the difference in all of my hard work! Not only that but I do feel stronger at boot camp. Since I am lighter I can go longer and stronger than before!

The best part of the 24 Day Challenge for me was that it was a long enough period of time to really learn how to stick with the plan. I was “trained” on how to eat like this. I have been able to keep up with the plan!”
